School Reopening Update
First and foremost, I want to communicate that we are planning to start school on August 27, 2020 as normally as possible.
Over the next month, a reopening planning committee will be meeting and formulating a more specific plan to reopen for students in person. This plan will go before the school board at their regularly scheduled meeting in August for approval.
The proposed plan will be available on our website a week before the August meeting. Input to the school board before or during the August meeting would be appreciated. In addition, a community feedback survey is available from the district office.
Please recognize that this is a massive task and there are many varying opinions on the “right” way to come back. While our primary goal is to get students and staff back into the school building safely, we will work with ALL families to provide them what they need moving forward. We currently offer a completely online option (no packets) for parents/students who do not feel comfortable being in the building. Our goal is to give students the option to do what works best for them and their family.
I would also like to take this opportunity to encourage everyone in the community to work together and to please treat each other with respect and kindness. Regardless of personal opinions, some institutions and businesses will have to follow most state mandates. Please be courteous to employees who are just doing their job and trying to earn their paycheck to support their family. We can get through this by respecting one another and working together.
I hope families are getting to enjoy the summer a little bit after all of the rain we’ve had!
