SUPERINTENDENT'S CORNER

Republic School District Learning Community,

I am humbled and honored to be the new superintendent of the Republic School District, and to partner with our students, staff, families, school board, and the community we serve to ensure we meet the district’s mission – “To cultivate a safe, challenging environment for achieving maximum potential and student success”. I am deeply committed to this charge and excited to learn more about how our mission is being implemented in Republic Schools. This is a great time to be part of our learning community and I fully embrace this opportunity to lead.

I have over 24 years in education, with 12 of those in school administration in Washington and Montana. I’m married to a wonderful woman, Jessie, and between the two of us we have 6 amazing children, mostly grown now and one who will be entering 7th grade here in Republic. We are extremely excited to join the Republic community and look forward to getting to know many of you in the coming months and years ahead.

As I begin my work, I recognize there are numerous opportunities that our entire school community is excited to address. To make sure that we build upon our strengths, recognize our challenges, and identify the most powerful strategies to address those challenges, my initial days of service will include learning as much as possible about what is working for our students and where there are areas for growth. I also want to hear how we can better prepare and support our staff for the critical roles they play in each student’s life. Lastly, I want to deeply understand our Strategic School Improvement Plan and how the transformational work that exists in the plan will become our reality in the Republic School District.

You will notice that we are currently working on replacing our roof on the middle school and high school, which will be the first in a line of much needed capital improvements for our buildings’ infrastructure. This is scheduled to be complete by October and will be followed up next year with updating our water pipe and HVAC systems. You will also notice some school security entry point upgrades to assist our schools in maintaining a safe learning environment. While these are great first steps, there is much work to be done over the next few years to ensure that our schools are functioning correctly and operating safely for students and staff.

I look forward to the opportunity to listen, learn, and partner with you. Together we can increase educational opportunities for all Republic students to succeed in school and beyond. I’m excited for the upcoming school year, meeting our students, staff, and community, and seeing our students engaged throughout our campus! Please don’t hesitate to reach out directly to our schools or district office for any support you might need this year.

Yours in Service,

John Farley
