Receiving this recognition is no small honor — only 16% of schools statewide were recognized this year. The Washington School Recognition Program, led by the State Board of Education in partnership with the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and the Educational Opportunity Gap Oversight and Accountability Committee, highlights schools making meaningful progress in supporting student success across Washington.
As part of the recognition, Republic Middle School will receive a banner to display on campus. These banners are distributed in partnership with regional educational service districts and serve as a visible symbol of student achievement and growth. Congratulations Republic Middle School!

We were also fortunate to welcome representatives from various schools, giving our students the chance to explore educational pathways and discuss their future goals. One of our vendors even traveled all the way from Idaho to share the importance of community service and make a meaningful impact on our students.
Thank you to all of our vendors for investing your time, knowledge, and energy into our students. Your support and dedication truly mean so much to our school community.

Our K–12 students participated in a variety of projects throughout the day:
K–3 students planted wildflowers and vegetables, picked up trash around the school, and painted rocks for our rock garden.
4th–5th-grade students planted wildflowers, painted rocks, picked up trash, and pulled weeds.
6th–8th grade students cleaned up the Tiger Trail all the way to Chevron.
9th-grade students made a huge impact at the dump, collecting over 200 pounds of trash.
Sophomore students worked at the fairgrounds completing landscaping projects, moving heavy materials, and scrubbing floors.
Junior students helped clean up our city park and continued picking up trash along their walk back to school.
Senior students partnered with 4th- and 5th-graders to build our new outdoor garden space—pulling weeds and laying dirt, rocks, and bark to create a place for students to walk, reflect, and enjoy the outdoors.
We would also like to recognize and thank those who generously gave their time and resources:
Caleb McKenzie for donating his time and hard work
Dirt Works (Kettle Falls) for donating 4 yards of dirt
Dave Konz for donating a yard of bark
RYAC for providing essential materials for the project
Kathy McKay for donating t-shirts for our Earth Day event
This day was a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished when a community comes together. We are proud of our students, grateful for our supporters, and honored to be part of such a caring and committed community.

Republic School District – State Testing Information (Spring 2025–2026)
Dear Republic School Families,
This spring, students in grades 3–8 and 10 will participate in the Smarter Balanced Assessments or the Washington Access to Instruction and Measurement (WA-AIM) in Math and English Language Arts (ELA).
In addition, students in grades 5, 8, and 11 will take the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS) or the WA-AIM Science Assessment.
These assessments are one of several tools used to measure student progress toward grade-level standards in math, ELA, and science. For 10th grade students, these assessments may also be used as part of a graduation pathway.
Assessment results help:
Identify areas where students may need additional support
Highlight opportunities for acceleration
Inform instruction at the classroom, school, and district levels
Meet state and federal requirements for monitoring student learning
Most students will complete these assessments online. Testing will take place during March, April, and May.

Republic School District is excited to give back to our community this Wednesday, April 22 through our Earth Day Clean-Up! Students across all grade levels will be participating in projects to improve and beautify our school and community.
👉 Important Reminder for 6th–12th Grade Families:
Many of our middle school and high school students will be leaving campus with their advisors to complete clean-up projects around town. We MUST have a signed field trip permission form on file in order for students to leave campus.
If you have already received the form, please complete and return it by Wednesday at 9:00 AM.
If you have not received one, please stop by the high school office—we have copies available.
