Last week, 4th, 5th, and 6th graders from Curlew, Keller, and Republic received lessons on safe paddling and boating practices from the Washington State Parks Safe Paddling program. Over 70 students were provided with properly fitted life jackets for use during the upcoming summer months. Additionally, the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife visited Curlew Lake and provided fishing poles for the students to use. The students were able to fish off the dock while learning about the basics of safe fishing practices. The ROAR program would like to thank Rob Sendak, Derek Van Dyke, and Alyssa Smith from the Washington State Parks Safe Paddling program, as well as Tyler Bahrenburg from the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Last week's ROAR Adventure had Mrs. Campbell's and Miss Bushnell's 1st grade classes giving back to their community by planting flowers around town. The 1st grade began growing the flowers in early March and has been learning about the life cycles of plants. The ROAR program would like to thank Mari Jo Olsen for donating potting soil and giving her time to help with this project.
