Republic School District #309 is aware of an increase in student absences today due to illness. We are working closely with Tri-County Health to monitor the situation and follow appropriate guidance.
As a reminder, families are encouraged to review the attached Tri-County Health handout regarding communicable diseases, including guidance on symptoms and when students should stay home from school. We will continue to monitor the situation and share any important updates with families as needed.

Receiving this recognition is no small honor — only 16% of schools statewide were recognized this year. The Washington School Recognition Program, led by the State Board of Education in partnership with the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and the Educational Opportunity Gap Oversight and Accountability Committee, highlights schools making meaningful progress in supporting student success across Washington.
As part of the recognition, Republic Middle School will receive a banner to display on campus. These banners are distributed in partnership with regional educational service districts and serve as a visible symbol of student achievement and growth. Congratulations Republic Middle School!

We were also fortunate to welcome representatives from various schools, giving our students the chance to explore educational pathways and discuss their future goals. One of our vendors even traveled all the way from Idaho to share the importance of community service and make a meaningful impact on our students.
Thank you to all of our vendors for investing your time, knowledge, and energy into our students. Your support and dedication truly mean so much to our school community.

Our K–12 students participated in a variety of projects throughout the day:
K–3 students planted wildflowers and vegetables, picked up trash around the school, and painted rocks for our rock garden.
4th–5th-grade students planted wildflowers, painted rocks, picked up trash, and pulled weeds.
6th–8th grade students cleaned up the Tiger Trail all the way to Chevron.
9th-grade students made a huge impact at the dump, collecting over 200 pounds of trash.
Sophomore students worked at the fairgrounds completing landscaping projects, moving heavy materials, and scrubbing floors.
Junior students helped clean up our city park and continued picking up trash along their walk back to school.
Senior students partnered with 4th- and 5th-graders to build our new outdoor garden space—pulling weeds and laying dirt, rocks, and bark to create a place for students to walk, reflect, and enjoy the outdoors.
We would also like to recognize and thank those who generously gave their time and resources:
Caleb McKenzie for donating his time and hard work
Dirt Works (Kettle Falls) for donating 4 yards of dirt
Dave Konz for donating a yard of bark
RYAC for providing essential materials for the project
Kathy McKay for donating t-shirts for our Earth Day event
This day was a powerful reminder of what can be accomplished when a community comes together. We are proud of our students, grateful for our supporters, and honored to be part of such a caring and committed community.
